I am so proud that we're finally working towards equality for all Americans. I feel especially lucky to be here, in San Francisco during this time because it is such an accepting and loving city. On the way to work this morning as I listened to the radio, I surprised myself when my eyes welled up at the announcement on The Supreme Court ruling. I was so happy to hear that we are one step closer to equality for everyone. After all, this country was founded on the idea that everyone should be treated equally.
I'm not exactly sure why I have such strong beliefs about this. But I think it has to do with a conversation I had with my wonderful Auntie Alice a few years ago. I think she would be so proud to see the news today if she were still with us.
It's been exciting to see the positive reactions and love flooding all forms of social media today. And I wanted to share a few of the things I've seen posted around the web.

Yes, I share your sentiment Theresa! This is a very divisive issue, but it's clear to me that it's an issue about equal rights. If we are to uphold the ideals of the constitution, then this group deserves protections just like everyone else. This was such a huge step forward for our country and I'm excited and delighted!

Ditto my friend!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I agree. It's such a shame we are in the 21st century and people are still not given equal rights!
