We're already 2 weeks in to the One Room Challenge and I haven't made too much progress yet, thankfully I chose a small room for my first time participating in this challenge!
This week I wanted to share my mood board for the space. There is so much potential to create such an inviting and beautiful space for me to work each day, and it's so exciting to imagine it completed! I really hope I can pull it together in the next few weeks. Next week I'm traveling, so I'll really have to hit the ground running when I return to make sure everything gets done for the reveal on November 15th!
The statement for this room is going to be the wallpaper accent wall. I think I found one that will compliment the existing desktop nicely. The desk is currently a really nice, dark green Corian surface like we have in our kitchen. Because the wallpaper is a statement, and the counters are also dark, I went with a more neutral creamy beige on the cabinets. I also want to add a bit of interest with a subtle pattern valence above the window that I plan to DIY (with my Mom's help, hopefully). I also want to create a cork board area under the cabinets to put my vision board each year. On the wall adjacent to the window that you see from our bedroom and the hallway, I plan to do a gallery wall of family photos. I haven't decided yet if I should do black and white photos, or color. I'm considering both acrylic frames with floating photos, or white frames. What do you think?
I haven't been good at sharing progress in stories on Instagram, but once I really get started with the work I will share updates. So far it's mostly just been planning what I want to do for the space and sourcing items! I realize now though, I need to get to work since I'm going to be painting these cabinets myself! If the DIY table that has been sitting in my garage for a year half way complete is any indication, it's going to take me a lot longer than planned!
I have a whole new appreciation for all the designers who are participating in the challenge! Especially those who are working full time or have young families! I guess I better start burning the midnight oil.
Be sure to check out what everyone else is working on over at the ORC link up page! Next week I have some more design and planning content to share, but starting with week 4 we should see some real progress with the actual work so we can start to see this project come to life.
Here is a reminder of what we're starting with!
