A Perfect Day

source

Today's prompt was to share a perfect day! I could think of one hundred perfect moments but for some reason, it's hard to string them into one single, perfect day. I tried to think of all the things that would make the day perfect, and incorporate them as best I could. But, it's hard to fit in all the things, places and people we love so much into just one day. But, let's give it a shot!

I awoke in a luxurious and charming boutique hotel in Vermont. I woke up early, but not too early, after a full nights sleep. I pulled on my oversized bathrobe and headed out to our private patio with a hot cup of coffee that was just delivered to our room. I sat on the Adirondack chair with a blanket, enjoying my coffee and a rainbow of fall foliage that stretched for miles. After a while, I decided it was too chilly to stay outside, so I came back in to read by the fire for a while.

When Andrew returned from the hotel gym, we decided to get ready for the day and head into town for breakfast. We had seen the cutest cafe with fresh pastries and a delicious light breakfast menu the day prior.

Once we were seated, I ordered a latte, water and a mimosa, as one on vacation does. We shared a sampling of the croissant, scone and an avocado toast with a jammy egg and a breakfast sandwich, it was perfection. After breakfast we decided to walk around the town a bit, peeking into shops and exploring. There was a nice trail from town that meandered along a creek with some beautiful views.

Soon it was time to head to the spa to meet my Mom and sister. They had stayed at the AirBNB we're all sharing the previous night so Andrew and I could have a date night away. Andrew was heading back, while the girls had an afternoon at the spa planned. It was an amazing spa with a series of outdoor cold plunge and hot tub pools to enjoy after our massage and facials, as well as a steam room and sauna. After a few relaxing and luxurious hours, we stopped at the cafe for a warm mug of tea before getting ourselves ready.

We went back into town to an adorable wine bar to share a glass of wine and a few appetizers as a late afternoon snack. We shared an aged cheese platter with fresh honeycomb, charcuterie, bread and burrata with tomato confit. It was delicious, hopefully we were hungry again for our fun dinner plans that evening.

After our relaxing afternoon, it was time to head back to the house for an evening with family. I was excited to hear all about the boys adventures for the day! We had planned for a local chef to cater for us that evening, so no one had to cook or clean and we could just enjoy each other's company. The house was the perfect set up, with a beautiful yard for the boys to run around and explore and rooms for everyone. Sadly the pool wasn't heated, but we all made good use of the hot tub! When it got dark, we headed back inside to enjoy our dinner. They had set up one long table that fit the entire family. The table was so beautiful with candles, pumpkins, fall leaves and greenery lining the center. It was so fun to all be together on vacation!

After dinner and a dessert sampler, it was time for games! We laughed and enjoyed all sitting around the table playing games, just like when we were kids at Grandma Norene's. As it got late, we got the kids ready for bed in their matching cousin jammies, but let them stay up a little late to watch a movie together before sending them off to the bunk room so the adults could chat a bit longer over a glass of wine, before retreating to bed themselves.

I hope you enjoyed reading this little fantasy day. It could have gone so many directions, but I guess I let the cozy fall feelings I've been loving lately take the lead.

See you back here tomorrow for Day 23!
